The Drive
The Bentley Continental is exactly what a Grand Tourer should be, it is absurdly fast and is more than capable of humiliating all but the very quickest of supercars yet can transport its passengers and all their luggage across a continent in private jet esque luxury.
Powered by its glorious 6.0litre twin turbo W12, that produces 552 bhp, enough horsepower to catapult it from a standstill to 60mph in just 4.4 seconds and then onto a scarcely believable 198mph!
Handling is sharp and precise with taut body control and a nice meaty steering feel. One thing that is of no surprise is the ride, which is silky smooth thanks to the variable damping and self leveling air suspension. All of this, combined with the fact that the Continental GT sends its power to all 4 wheels makes it a truly beguiling car to drive.
It goes without saying, of course, our Bentley drives totally without fault.
The Exterior
Our Bentley looks every bit the mean and moody coupe, finished in its classic Beluga Black paintwork, it exudes aggression, quality and class in equal measures. It also presents beautifully with arrow straight, dent free panels and a mile deep shine.
All the chrome trim is in excellent condition as is the traditional Bentley Matrix grille and optional lower chrome grilles.
The 20” 2 piece sports wheels (part of the Mulliner specification) are all in very nice condition and are shod in a matching set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres.
The Interior
Moving inside and you are presented with a sea of leather and Burr Walnut. The two materials are everywhere from the beautifully sculpted dashboard to the seats, to the centre console, to the door panels, even to the headling and it is all carried off so effortlessly, creating a feeling of true sporting luxury, once behind the wheel, you’re constantly reminded that you’re piloting a very special car.
The Mulliner packages also adds some lovely sporting touches such as the knurled chrome and hide gear lever, the drilled alloy pedals and the classic Bentley quilting to the seats, door cards and rear quarter panels.
In contrast to the very traditional craftmanship and materials there is a lot of modern tech, such as keyless entry and start, electronic handbrake with move off assist, electrically adjustable and heated seats with massage function, electronic climate control and infotainment system with satellite navigation
Due to its low mileage and careful owners our Bentley displays next to no wear and tear inside and everything appears to work just as it should.
The Paperwork
The Bentley comes with both keys, V5, all owners handbooks, 2 service books, previous MOT certificates and a significant collection of service invoices and receipts
The Conclusion
Any fears that new owner Volkswagen wasn’t going to deliver a proper Bentley with its first model in charge, were instantly dismissed with the arrival of the Continental GT. This opulent coupé offers real 200mph performance and a boot big enough to swallow 4 peoples luggage.
This particular Continental is a lovely example with very low miles and a comprehensive Bentley main dealership history. It is finished in a great colour combination and is further enhanced by the Mulliner package.
As with all our classic and retro cars, we have described the Bentley honestly and with transparency, drawing attention to the good points and the imperfections equally, allowing you to make an informed decision.
